THE PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA
OUR JOURNEY TO SELF REALIZATION

Raja Yoga or Yoga Sutras of Pantanjali

Raja, translated, means 'the royal path' and Yoga Sutras translates

to 'threads (or verses) on Yoga'. Like beads on a necklace, the Sutra

verses string together an underlying continuous thought ultimately

forming a complete philosophy, making The Yoga Sutras of

Pantanjali the philosophical study of ourselves.

Contained within 4 chapters, 196 short verses lead us down the

unique path of our own spiritual journey to self-awakening. Coming

face-to-face with our destructive patterns and painful tendencies,

created by the confusions and misconceptions we have collected

over the years, we gain deeper wisdom by learning practical

methods to understanding our thoughts, emotions and habits,

teaching us how to let go of those self-imposed chains and live a

happier, more fulfilled life through various methods of meditation

and concentrations of the mind. So, instead of exploring the outer

world like other sciences, Sutra is solely focused on the enlightening

adventure into the inner world of ourselves.
 The wonderful thing

about “the Yoga Sutras” is that they are as relevant today as they

were over 2000 years ago when Pantanjali compiled them.
